Guess what? We just finished watching it too.
Sounds great, Karli. I have only seen the most recent version, which, as all most rececnt versions seem to be, was not very good or true to the book.
I once read a bio of Jane Austen, which contained a whole chapter on the book Mansfield Park, because it was such a polarising book - the one that drew the most discussion. Fanny was disliked by many as a character because she seemed too good, too moralising as a character. Interesting!
Great Bethany! How did your family like it ? We were probably watching it at the same time : )
Yes,we too have watched other versions and have been disappointed with them. Mum watched one made in the late 90's early 00's and found that to be very modernised (read bad!).
I really like Fanny's character. But I do think that she should have been more communicative. Especially when she knows that Mr. C and Mariah are an item while Mariah is engaged. I think she could have prevented the marriage of Mariah with Mr. R...but then I have not read the book, so maybe it is made to look worse in the movies.
On Angus and up whatched it. I really enjoyed it except for the scene when Fanny is crying and just about has a fit.
That was a superb movie!! I highly recomend it to those who don't mind watching the ones made back in the 80's. Very well done, indeed!
